Learning to somersault can be daunting for your child. It can help to bring lots of patience and have a safe soft floor to practice the trick.

Step 1

Start crouched low to the ground with one foot in front.

Step 2

Tell your preschooler to glue their chin to their chest. Even pull out some imaginary glue so they can remember.

Step 3

Encourage them to 'kiss their back foot'. The goal is to try to complete the somersault without touching their head on the ground.

Step 4

Gently push their back foot towards the direction they're rolling. Over time, encourage them to kick this foot off the ground.

Bonus Tip

Only give one piece of advice at a time. Once they seem like they've mastered that tip, give them another one.
